Attendee engagement does not happen by accident. This course teaches you to design event experiences that guide participants toward specific outcomes while maintaining their attention and participation throughout.
You start by understanding different attendee personas and their motivations for attending. A sales conference requires different experience design than leadership training or a client appreciation event. We map complete attendee journeys from invitation through post-event follow-up.
Touchpoint Analysis
Every interaction with your event is a touchpoint: registration confirmation, pre-event communications, arrival experience, session transitions, networking opportunities, meals, and departure. Each affects overall perception and engagement.
The course covers environmental design considerations including room layout psychology, signage strategy, and creating spaces for different interaction types. You learn when theater seating works versus rounds, how to facilitate networking without forced activities, and managing energy levels across multi-hour agendas.
Content design principles
Balance presentation formats, build in processing time, and structure sessions for adult learning retention rather than information dump.
We analyze failed events to understand where experience design broke down, then rebuild them with better structure. You practice agenda development, session format selection, and incorporating interaction moments that serve program objectives.
